Jonibek Subhon

Jonibek Subhon's poems and stories have been published in the national press. Jonibek Subhon's epic «Bezovta ruh» («Restless Soul»), written in the aruz meter, is dedicated to the 660th anniversary of the birth of the great sovereign Amir Temur.

Biography

Jonibek Subhon (his real name is Jonibek Suvonqulov) was born on June 9, 1944, in the Zomin district of the Jizzakh region. He first finished the seven-year school in that village, then the ten-year school in Yom in 1959.

In 1962, he entered the Faculty of Uzbek Philology at Samarkand State University and completed it in 1970 after military service.

Between 1970-1980, he worked for the newspaper «Sirdaryo haqiqati», and from 1980-1984, he was a correspondent for OzTAG for the Sirdaryo region. From 1984-1986, he worked as a literary consultant for the Sirdaryo regional branch of the Writers' Union. Since 1986, he has been working at the Gafur Gulam Publishing House of Literature and Art. His poems and stories have been published in regional and national press since 1962.

His first poetry collection, «Zangori ufqlar» («Blue Horizons»), was published in 1978.

His poetry collections «Qirralar» (1988), «Ota makon» (1991), «Tazarru onlari» (1993), «Silsila» (1994), and «Ro‘yo» (1994) have been published. He is also the author of the collections «Senga intilaman» (1987), «Katta hayot bo‘sag‘asida» (1987), and «Zamon qo‘ng‘irog‘i» (1990).

He is now focusing on creating in the old aruz meter. The epic «Madyanlar fojiasi» and a series of his ghazals are examples of this. His poems written for children and his allegorical epic «Suvaraknoma» are famous.

Jonibek Subhon's biography, destiny, and creative path are simple. However, his poetry can be called iridescent, philosophical poetry in terms of its meaning and essence.

In particular, many of the poems included in his «Silsila» collection do not leave poetry enthusiasts indifferent. A number of ghazals in it invite the reader's imagination to look at history, time, and the future through the eyes of truth and conscience.
